IIMA is pleased to be participating in the Fastmarkets Metals & Mining’s Scrap & Steel North America 2023 conference, in Dallas, Texas and looks forward to joining the conversation on the future of scrap and steel in North America.
It is an opportunity to kick-off 2023 with expert scrap market forecasts, pricing analysis whilst connecting with influential market participants. The conference agenda offers a strategic perspective of pricing and trading dynamics in the scrap market - while providing expert analysis of the wider steelmaking raw materials market.
IIMA secretary, John Atherton is giving 2 presentations at the event:
- 18 January - an overview of the North American ore-based raw materials markets and outlook with respect to carbon neutral steelmaking
- 19 January - global pig iron & HBI markets, the impact of recent geopolitical issues & the challenges & opportunities of decarbonisation.
Barbara Smith, Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Commercial Metals Company (CMC) will give the opening keynote address. During this keynote address, Barbara will share her perspective on the issues facing the US steel scrap market and decarbonization. CMC's net zero steel offering RebarZero has received both 'interesting and positive' feedback from the market, still, consumer demand for greener products is increasing. What could this shift mean for green product pricing moving forward?
