New Sustainable Committee Chair

Thomaz Valladares from member Viena onboard

Now in its 3rd year, the IIMA Sustainability Committee has a new chair. Our Sustainability Committee serves to promote the sustainable production and use of ore-based metallics in steel making and iron foundry processes through knowledge sharing, assessment and development of good practice and guidance.

We are delighted to have Thomaz Valladares on board from member company Viena Siderúrgica. Viena is one of the largest pig iron producers in Brazil. Thomaz Valladares Mascarenhas Mourao is an Industrial Engineer with a Masters and an MBA in Forestry Management, Materials Engineering and Business at Universidade Federal do Paraná, Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto, Ibmec, Seoul National University, Fundação Estudar and Fundação Dom Cabral. Before joining the team at Viena, he gained experience at CEVA Logistics optimizing auto parts logistics, then at Hyundai Steel as part of the Environmental Development R&D team where he founded the Startup Acerto. Today, he is responsible for Viena’s operations from Pig Iron, Charcoal, Eucalyptus Reforestation, Solar Energy, Heavy Construction and proprietary Software Development.
