IIMA is delighted to announce the election of Wolfgang Schütze as a Fellow of IIMA, a membership category reserved for individuals who have made a significant personal contribution to the ore-based metallics industry. Wolfgang graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the Ruhr-University Bochum and started his professional career at Thyssen Maschinenbau in the field of forging machines. For the last 30 years or so he has been with Maschinenfabrik Köppern, responsible for the development of roller presses and plants for briquetting, compaction and comminution, particularly hot briquetting of direct reduced iron. He has been involved in the design and commissioning of almost every HBI plant in the world. He was an active member of and contributor to the Hot Briquetted Iron Association, one of IIMA's founding associations, and subsequently to the IIMA. He is Member of the VDI – (Association of German Engineers).
