Oscar Dam elected Fellow of IIMA

IIMA is delighted to announce the election of Oscar Dam as a Fellow of IIMA, a membership category reserved for individuals who have made a significant personal contribution to the ore-based metallics industry.Dr. Dam’s career spans well over 4 decades in the iron, steel, ferroalloys, aluminum and recycling industries. He has held a number of important management positions such as Technology VP at Sidor, R & D VP at Orinoco Iron, CEO of CVG Fesilven and Alcasa, among others. Oscar holds Engineering and MSc degrees in Metallurgy and a PhD in Engineering. He owns a number of international patents and was the co-inventor of the AREX direct reduction process Oscar was heavily involved in the creation of the HBIA, the Hot Briquetted Iron Association since its inception in 1998 and became the Chairman of the Technical Committee and later on the Technical advisor of the IIMA. He was responsible for coordinating the activities at the HBIA with the IMO and was instrumental in the approval of schedule for DRI (A) of the IMSBC code.
