HBI-C-Flex Project publishes first peer-reviewed paper

The HBI-C-Flex project has recently published its first peer-reviewed paper in Metals by MDPI.

The HBI-C-Flex Project aims to ensure the characteristics of HBI and potential implications for it's safe transport are well understood and are properly reflected in maritime regulations (see our Project webpage for a summary). The official launch took place on the 1st July 2023 in Linz Austria with considerable industry support.

The first published paper is titled “Reoxidation Behavior of the Direct Reduced Iron and Hot Briquetted Iron during Handling and Their Integration into Electric Arc Furnace Steelmaking: A Review” studies how direct reduced iron (DRI) and hot briquetted iron (HBI) are integrated into the steelmaking process using electric arc furnaces. It provides an overview of various DRI production techniques distinguished by different reactor types.

As the project is now just over one year old, the website also has a summary of the activity of the first year.
